In
august 1996 we got our domestic cat Tyson. In april 1997 he was about
to be neutered. In the vet´s waiting-room there was another couple
with two long-haired cats in a crate. We were of course curious and
started to ask questions. We learnt that the wonderful cats that we
saw were Maine-Coon-cats. Neither my husband nor me had ever heard about
those cats before! The MCO-owner told us that there would be a cat-show
in our town the coming week-end and she thougt it would be a good idéa
to visit the cat-show.
Well, our Tyson
got neutered and to be honest we forgot all about the cat-show. On the
coming Saturday we were taking a walk and suddenly we found ourselves
passing by the buildning where the cat-show was held. We went in of
course and looked around at all the wonderful cats there. In one of
the crates we found four, unbelivable sweet kittens. From a sign we
found out that these adorable creatures where Maine Coon-cats, just
the cats we had come to look for. What do YOU think happened, yes of
course, there was love at first sight and one of these four kittens
has now lived with us since he was 4 months old. His name is S*Figgli´s
Mr Marvin.
With Marvin in the
house-hold we liked to try cat-shows. We thought it would be one time
and no more! But today we travel around to the cat-shows near by as
often as possible. As we live in the north of Sweden the wintertime,
with much snow makes it impossible to attend cat-shows during November
until March, but in the summer-time it all starts again!
Some wise person
once said that "Maine Coon-cats are addictive", and that seems
to be quite true! We started of course to look for one more Maine Coon.
Even this time we were going to have a male, because we would absolutely
never start a cattery! We met the Norweigan family, Benthe and Arve
Prytz (N Arctic Coon´s) at a cat show in the spring 1999 and in
august 1999 we could bring home our second MCO, (N) Arctic Coon´s
Elvis Prytzly. Every time we met with the Prytz-family on a cat-show
they asked if we really wasn´t interested in a female. We thought
about it for quite some time but it all ended with us ordering a female
from the Prytz-family. We had to wait for the right girl for quite a
while but in december 2001 we could bring our lovely (N) Arctic Coon´s
Rozy Madonna home from Oslo.
The interest in
cats has lead to that we are engaged in the work with the Cat-Club of
our town.
